If I wear a large normally do I need to size up to wear this over other layers or will the large fit over layering

That is a great question, Normally we do not recommend going up a size as our system is built for layering unless you plan to put bulky layer underneath. If you do have a sizing issue, we cover shipping back and forth until you get into the right size.

It’s not 100% windproof like a hard shell, but the outer nylon fabric and high-fill down insulation create a strong barrier that keeps you warm even in harsh wind conditions. If you’re looking for full windproof protection, layering it under a soft shell like the Nebo or Hardscrabble Jacket works perfectly.

What denier thickness is the exterior shell fabric?

Thank you for your inquiry! The face fabric of our Ptarmigan Jacket and pants are 100% nylon. We do not measure by denier, we measure by GSM. The nylon face fabric of the Down Pant and Jacket is 48 GSM.

It is very close to black but not a deep black. color.

What weight are the inner and outer materials of the jacket?

The weight will depend on the size. If we are using XL for example. The total weight of the down is 5.2 ounces. The total weight of the Jacket is roughly 16 ounces which would leave about 11 ounces of total external material weight.
